In 2003, Athena Savalas was commissioned to do a portrait of James Dewey Watson an American molecular biologist, best known as one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA. James Watson, Francis Crick, and Maurice Wilkins were awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material".

Currently this drawing is on display at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory located in Cold Spring Harbor, NY.
